My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I was lucky enough to have Gremlin at my home for a day before he went to his foster home.  He did fine with my dogs of various sizes and my cats.  He obviously came from a home as he was very familiar with being in the house.  He takes time to warm up but I just ignored him for a bit and he soon came to me as he does thrive on affection.  He is a little dog, approximately 2 - 2 1/2 years old and currently weighs 12 lbs.  Gremlin is healthy and has had all of his vetting updated and is neutered.

Here is what Gremlin's foster family had to say about him:

Gremlin is a cute and fun little guy. He is shy at first and really lives up to his name (likes to hide under the couch), but once he gains your trust he really opens up! He appears to be in good health, no issues that we are dealing with. The only thing is that he is a bit of a picky eater, however, we have got a routine down now and he doesn't leave any food behind!  He liked to bug his foster-brother dog a lot, and you can catch them running around and playing with toys all night! Once we are in bed, he is quiet until morning.  (He was also good around larger dogs).  He is low shedding.

Gremlin is very social (once he opens up). He has not met any children yet so I cannot confirm, but he has been fine with young adults - elderly individuals.  He did show shyness at first, he would not come into our room he would run away. The first few days he would hide under the couch. Now he is much more comfortable, I only had one experience where he ran away was when my boyfriend took him for a walk for the first time. He called him to go for a walk and Gremlin actually went into the crate (he hadn't done that before). Now he is okay with walking with my boyfriend and he is comfortable snuggling and playing with him. No aggression has been shown whatsoever.  He loves his foster brother Zeus (who is 4 years older but around the same size). He often bugs him to play and wrestle, and they get along great.  They are still working out who is the top dog.  Gremlin has interacted with a few cats and was fine! Just sniffed them and then ignored them.

Gremlin is pretty quiet, he doesn't bark when I leave, instead him and his foster brother run off together and play.  He loves to play tug of war with his foster brother and their sock monkey!  He enjoys going for walks, but does not like to be out for too long.  Overall Gremlin is pretty quiet, he does however bark when he hears people coming in the building or other tenants opening and closing their doors.  I think that whoever adopts Gremlin needs to have patience, and enough time to spend with Gremlin to make him comfortable. He needs someone who will take the time to understand his behaviours (especially regarding his food, I have finally figured out that he likes his food heated slightly).

He is pretty well behaved, does not counter surf or chew things. He is a pretty tall dog when hes up on his back legs so watch out...especially if you are eating a bowl of popcorn and happen to leave for a bathroom break! LOL :)  Gremlin knows sit, and he comes when he is called. We are currently working on down.  He is fully house trained but we have noticed that he has peed twice in the house (one was on my roommates slipper and the other on our kitchen mat). We expected that he was trying to show dominance, but after those two times he has not had any others and that was when he first came.  Gremlin occasionally goes in the crate if we are going to be gone for a longer duration (2-3hrs) as we are still getting used to his habits. I typically do not use the crate as my other dog has freedom and I don't find it fair. I have only seen him go into the crate on his own once.  He is okay walking on a leash, he does stop to stare at cars that are passing by.  Occasionally he will get bored and sit down during the walk.  He does not try to bolt out the door as he wants to be with his people.  He will need further socialization with going in the car.  He does not like the car at all, and will try to jump out.

Gremlin is a wild spirit who is confident in himself and loves attention.  He that deserves a loving and welcoming family. He is an affectionate and loving dog and really makes you feel happy and whole!  I think that Gremlin would be best suited in a house (not an apartment) as he gets a little spooked by other doors opening/closing and people walking in the halls. Also, a family that has another dog who likes to play I think would help ease him in a little better. He definitely needs someone who will take the time to make him comfortable and love him!
