Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Gunner was dumped in a shelter when there was no family members to take him after his owner suffered from a terminal illness and was no longer able to care for him. It would appear that he grew up with someone home most of the time. There was another little dog in the home, although much older, and not very friendly, so Gunner probably didn't have a lot of exposure to many people outside the home. He is starting to come around and show his true self, which is a lovely little companion who enjoys being with his person, and going for walks. Gunner is approximately 4 years old and currently weighs 15 lbs. He has had all of his vetting updated and is neutered.
Here is what Gunner's foster family had to say about him:
Gunner is the sweetest, most behaved foster I have had in a while :) He is slightly skittish and I think he would do best in a quieter home. He had his whole world turned upside down when due to a terminal illness, and no family to take him, he was dumped at a shelter. He didn't eat for the first while and it was hard to tell if he was just really picky or he was emotionally upset. I have been cooking for him or feeding him raw, to get him to eat. Perhaps in his past home he ate what his human ate?
Gunner has moderate energy in the home but once you get his leash out he is fully ready to go! He does not shed at all and he appears to be in good health. I believe he would be best suited in a home with respectful children 12 and up. I have had him around a few dogs and he is totally fine. He will nip if they are bothering him, but he does give a warning. My dog and Gunner ignored each other for a couple days but now they sleep together but, they haven't bonded. It will take some time for Gunner to really become comfortable and realize he is not going home.
Gunner is totally meant to be a companion. All he really wants is to be wherever you are. He doesn't demand a lot of attention and is happy to just lie at my feet. He does like to be held however and enjoys getting lots of pats and praise. He had a couple of accidents when he first arrived, but is now totally house trained. He would be a good companion for someone that works from home or is able to take their dog with them to work.
Overall Gunner is fine in the home. The only time I hear him make a fuss is when I leave the house. As he is a foster dog, I generally crate him when I am out but he really doesn't like it and will cry and paw at the door of the crate. The most I have crated him for is about 4 hours. In his forever home, I am sure he would never need to be crated as he can be fully trusted in the home. He would probably love a little bed beside yours, or allowing him to sleep on the end of your bed.
Gunner loves walk and always stays right with you. He could probably be walked without a leash. He is excellent on a leash and you see so much joy in him when he gets to go on a walk! He is definitely not an escape artist!. He is also fantastic in the car (I do take him with me a lot).
Gunner is just an all around lovely little guy that is great company and a real little buddy. He would do best where he could be with his person more often than not. I don't think he would be happy at home by himself for long working days. As well, he does seem to be shy of some men and will shy away when they reach down to pet him. For this reason I believe he was probably a woman's companion in his previous life. Like everything however, with proper socialization they get over their shyness so he would probably be fine with a male as well.
