My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

As his foster mom said, "the world is big and Reggie is small, nuff said."  This little guy is all love and cuteness.  At just 6 lbs and shy, he will need someone to help boost his confidence with lots of socialization and praise.  He is just a loving little companion.  Reggie is a young boy approximately a year old.  He is in good health, has been fully vetted and is neutered.

Here is what Reggie's foster family had to say about him:

Reggie is the sweetest little guy. He wants nothing more than to be with his people and cuddle the day away. He seems in great health and is full of energy. Reggie has a moderate energy level but given his tiny size running around the house is enough to burn that off. He is a young adult boy who is past the puppy stage but still full of spunk. He is a low shedding dog that requires very little in the way of grooming.

Reggie likes everyone once he gets to know them but needs some work on his socialization as he is quite nervous of new people and settings. He gets along well with other dogs and cats but his true love is people. Reggie is shy around everyone at first and is still nervous when you try to pick him up. Reggie loves with all his heart but needs some time and a good friend to show him that the world is a fun place to explore. He is terrified on walks but when he relaxes for just a moment his nose takes over. I think when he has a trusted pal to walk with he will enjoy it (but maybe in the spring when its warmer). Reggie ran at my son when he leaned over me on the couch to give me a hug. He tried his best with barks and growls to defend me but it’s hard to take 6 Lbs seriously. Reggie has only been introduced to my 2 small respectful dogs. I don’t think he would do well at all with a big bouncy dog but is slowly learning to play with my little guys. His 1 true love is people so having a dog friend is not a requirement for Reggie. He is curious about the cats, but knows better than to bother them.

He is little, the world is big, enough said. He is young and I think with a good friend and some patience introducing him to new things he will do fine. His favourite things to do are cuddle, kiss and cuddle some more. Reggie is calm in the home and given his size even when he decides to run around it’s no bother at all. Reggie is quiet unless he hears something or sigh....thinks he does. Hoping with time that this calms down as he becomes used to the regular sounds of a home and neighbourhood but this should be considered when placing him as he does have a big voice.

Reggie will try to steal food if given the opportunity but given his size the counter is safe. Reggie like most tiny dogs has not been taught any commands but he is young and eager to please so would learn quickly. Reggie is still working on his house training. He is about 75% house trained. He knows that outside is the place to do his business but if you aren’t on top of letting him out he will find a spot in the house. Reggie is calm and quiet in the crate which is great because it is the best tool to utilize while continuing his house training. Reggie hates the cold and is terrified on leash. I think once he trusts his new family they can help him have the confidence to explore...but only on warm days. If left out for longer than a couple minutes Reggie will search for a hole to squeeze through the fence. Given this fact and his size it is very important to accompany him outside at first and make sure the yard is very secure. Reggie is quiet in the car.

Reggie is such a sweet loving boy. He loves to give kisses and cuddle the day away. He will sleep in his crate at night but his favourite spot is under the covers with you. He is nervous but his spunky side peeks out regularly. I’m sure with some love and patience this little guy will come out of his shell and be an amazing companion for someone. I think Reggie aka Reginald would be good in many homes as long as he receives the attention he craves. He doesn’t require a lot of exercise. Although not yappy when concerned over strange noises he can have a loud voice so a home where noise may be an issue may not be a good fit.
