Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Adoption Fee: $200
Fostered in Greenville, South Carolina
Age: 10.5 years
Weight: 12 lbs.
3/4/19 - Riley had his surgery and has been discharged to his foster home. He is feeling much better and thanks to all of you who helped Riley get his surgery so quickly. It was very much needed since there were a total of 16 stones in that little baby's bladder.
2/25/19 - Our sweet Riley has been having some medical issues and the vet thought it was due to Cushings. After quite a bit of testing, that was ruled out; but, it took some time, so we decided to get him to a specialist to see if we could get to the bottom of what was going on with him. He also had repeated skin issues, so we had him evaluated by a dermatologist on the same day he was seen by the Internal Med specialist. Seems Riley has an enlarged liver. He did an ultrasound and found that Riley has bladder stones.
As far as the bladder stones and enlarged liver, we have him scheduled for 2/27/19 with Upstate Veterinary Specialists to have surgery to remove the stones and take a liver biopsy at the same time. Thanks to everyone who has donated to Riley’s care and made it possible for us to schedule this surgery so quickly and help Riley get out of pain.
On the skin issues, Riley received a Cytopoint shot which is something that he will continue to get (usually every 6-12 weeks, depending on when itching reoccurs). He does get occasional staph infections from his allergy issues, but those are usually treated with antibiotics and special shampoo as they flare up.
2/5/19 - Riley has been scheduled to see a dermatologist for his itching and little sores that he frequently gets and an internal medicine doctor for some other medical issues that we want to clear up. Both of these appointments are scheduled for 2/19/19. After these appointments and whatever testing they recommend, we hope to have an updated bio on Riley that will let us know exactly where he stands medically and what, if any, medicine or procedures need to be taken/done. Riley has had a lot of interest and we are sorry that he cannot be adopted until we are certain where his medical state stands. We just want to be sure that we are able to enlighten any potential adopter to his medical state and needs for the future.
12/14/18 - Riley has been to the vet and is having some medical testing done. He is currently on Apoquel for allergies and being tested to rule out thyroid issues and/or cushings.
12/13/18 - BIO COMING SOON!
