Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Say Hello to Parker! Parker is an estimated 8 year old Poodle or Poodle Mix, who came into Bichon Rescue because he’s little, white and has curly hair. When he arrive at his foster home, his foster mom immediately recognized that little docked Poodle tail which didn’t stop wagging, despite his deplorable condition.
Parker was found on the streets of Brooklyn as a stray. He was filthy, horribly matted and his breath would knock you over. Luckily for Parker, Bichon Rescue of NNJ was contacted by the NYC Animal Control to see if we could help him. We instantly said, “Yes!”
Parker arrived in his foster home on December 3rd and he immediately got booked for a spa treatment. After he was freshly groomed, he went to the vet for a check up, blood work and to schedule a dental and neuter. He was cleared for surgery and had both procedures on December 10th. Poor Parker lost quite a few teeth, but his breath is sweet again and his tail is still wagging. He is also eating like a trouper, although seems to prefer chicken over dog food.
Parker’s left eye has a cataract, but he can see just fine as his right eye is in excellent shape, but both should be monitored over the course of his life. It’s an easy eye test which can be done in minutes during his regular vet exam.
Parker is mostly a quiet dog who is friendly to both people and other dogs. He is slightly shy, but quickly warms up once he knows he’s going to get petted or get treats. He has been through a lot in the last month, so his house-training skills will need to be reinforced, but he’s doing very well at his foster home when taken out regularly. Parker walks nicely on a leash and is also very good in the car. He’s patient while his foster mom runs errands and relaxes in his own special doggie car seat. Parker is an all around easy going dog; affectionate, but not needy. He would be fine as a single dog or a nice addition as a playmate. Have an open lap and heart this Holiday Season? Ask for Parker!
