Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Billy is still looking for his forever home and hasn’t had a single application come in! This 12 month old, Shepherd/Border Collie puppy is a handful and needs a dog-savvy handler. Billy spent several months in the shelter system and although he was adored by the shelter volunteers, he is lacking in training, confidence and self-control. Billy has been working with a trainer on a weekly basis and his behaviour is slowly improving. He will need a new home that will continue to work with him (particularly on a leash) and someone who will go slow with physical manipulations. He is okay with physical manipulations once he trusts you. Someone who knows shepherds would be best for Billy. This guy is super smart and a mix of two working breeds so he is not for everyone. It turns out that Billy is good with dog-savvy cats! Billy is being fostered with a passive, female, dog and has done well with her. He has not done well with dominant females or dominant male dogs of any size. Passive male dogs are unknown but any dog who doesn’t enjoy a boisterous energy will likely not tolerate him well and vice versa. His foster feels that he would be happiest as an only dog. Billy did nip a volunteer during his transport to us and tried to do so again at the vet (he was very stressed both times), but therefore should not go to a home with any kids. Billy is neutered and up-to-date on vaccines. He is housetrained and crate trained. UDR (and fosters Madeline and John) decided to take a chance on Billy and agreed to take him from the shelter when his euthanasia date was extended. We are glad that we did. We are all hopeful that someone else will see the potential in this puppy and give him the life he needs and deserves.
Billy is located in Bowmanville, ON.
