My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Beni is estimated to be about three years old, spayed female who weighs about 40 lbs. She was found on the street wandering around, and came to a local shelter. When the vet examined her, they realized she was pregnant, and also diagnosed her with heartworm positive. Shortly, she gave birth to three pups, and we could tell that she was such a devoted mom to her pups. She always gave up her food, treats for her pups no matter what. When her pups became three months old, their growth spur was measured equivalent to 5 month old puppies! She was a proud mom! All of her puppies were able to find homes soon thanks to Beni's devotion, but Beni had to start the treatment for her heartworm positive status herself. She was a champion during the treatment period, and completed the procedure, and all she is left now is to take Heartguard every month for life!

We are told that she is easy going, and gets along with both people and dogs. She could have been placed on the top of available dogs list earlier, but we always had other emergencies to deal with, and other desperate dogs that we need to place, so she kept getting bumped. We felt so bad to Beni that she endured such an unbearable hot and humid summer at the outdoor kennel without any complaints, but we decided that her wait for a family needs to be now, and the wait is no more! Our volunteer at the shelter tells us that everytime there's someone who takes her out for a walk, she always greets them with love and appreciation and she always carries a smile as you can see in the photos!!! Given the fact that she lived mostly outside, she still needs to work on potty training, but other than that, she received a clean bill of health from the vet, and she is ready to be adopted!

We believe people who adopt rescue animals because they are willing to accept a bit of imperfection, and willing to embrace, work/ train and love them no matter what baggage the animal had in the past. It can be challenging, but extremely rewarding. We have seen amazing transformation in our adopted dogs who have been with loving families, and it is our goal to provide all of them with the opportunity. We are at our happiest when we see photos of our adopted animals smile with the new adoptive family, and we hope to find Beni a loving family who would do the same.

Please consider adopting Beni and making her part of your family! If you would like to apply to adopt Beni, you can download an application here:
