Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Buddy is an adorable pup, the perfect size for a family with young children, with a playful and affectionate soul. A sweet boy, with lots of positive reinforcement, exercise and love, Buddy will grow into a perfect family companion. Buddy is approximately 11 months old and currently weighs 30 lbs. Other than filling out a little, he should be close to his adult size. He has had all of his vetting done including being neutered and is a healthy, happy pup.
Here is what his foster family had to say about Buddy:
Buddy has a face that can truly melt hearts! He looks like a Black Labrador, but weighing only about 30 pounds he is just a bit bigger than a lap dog. He is a lovely puppy with a shiny black coat and a wet black nose. I do believe he is about 11 months old so he should not grow much bigger and he appears to be in good health.
Buddy enjoys tugging on toys, walks in the woods and has a keen sense of adventure. He loves to stop, sniff and enjoy the surroundings. In fact, the world would be a much better place if we all embraced Buddy’s happy go lucky attitude. He is friends to all and does not have a mean bone in his body. Although, he likes to sit on the back porch and bark at squirrels, he is kind spirited and just wants to play.
Around the house, Buddy B is very well behaved. After a long morning walk, he will chill out and settle. He has the ability to amuse himself with toys and thus far only chews what belongs to him with the exception of one plush, ball shaped Christmas ornament. Having said that, he will gently carry socks and woolly hats around the house. I would always remember he is a puppy with very little obedience training, so it is wise not to leave precious items lying about. He may chew on your hand as puppies do. We gently tell him over and over again, “no biting”.
He is clever and has the ability to learn so I do recommend his new family takes the time for one on one obedience training. He must work on come, sit, stay and off. He must be taught not to pull when walking on a leash. He has learned so much over the past week so the above is all possible with a little patience and understanding! He is house trained and has had only one accident on his first night in our home.
Buddy has never tried to escape from our yard but I would ensure a safe environment for him as he has bolted out the front door and can easily slip through his collar. He is not shy at all and aside from a few whimpers when leaving the house he has shown no signs of separation anxiety. He is rambunctious, and excited in the evening when my little boy is home and my husband arrives from work.
Buddy is crate trained. If I must go out for 3 to 4 hours tops, I will put him in his crate with a treat. However, he does require exercise so I do tucker him out with some play or a walk first. In no time, Buddy will grow to be a dog you can trust unattended and outside of a crate. At night time, he sleeps cuddled up to us or will lay in his own doggie bed next to ours. We love waking up to his morning kisses.
I know puppies are not meant as Christmas presents but I do assure you he will add joy and cheer to your holiday season and for years to come! He is the “best pal” to an only child and an awesome play mate to siblings. Buddy will thrive in a family with young children. He makes my five year old son giggle to sleep and greets all of the children at the bus stop.
We have enjoyed him in our home and believe he will make a wonderful addition to a young and active family!
