Here's what the humans have to say about me:
WILLIE (ARKANSAS)
Willie is a SUPER ADORABLE and very tiny 3.5 lb, 8-9 yr old (estimated) Yorkie boy being fostered in Bryant, AR.
Adorable Willie is all dressed up in his Tuxedo to wish all UYR followers EVERYWHERE a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR! Willie has been in his foster home since Thanksgiving and is doing very well. He has really enjoyed spending the holidays in a place where he has lots of love, yummy food, treats and lots of attention! Sadly that hasn’t always been the case for him. Not so long ago, tiny Willie was abandoned by his owner at a Veterinarian’s office. When no one came to pick him up, the office notified animal control, and sadly Willie was off to the shelter. But Willie’s story does not end there……Santa knew Willie had been a good boy and he deserved a special Christmas like ALL GOOD Boys do! Willie was not destined to languish in the shelter for long because UYR got alerted by Santa and soon the UYR elves were packing up their sleigh to get Willie on a transport with to his foster home. Willie had lived a life of obvious neglect because he was in rough shape with matting, very long nails, bad skin and other signs of neglect when he came to us. But a little TLC goes a very long way and JUST LOOK AT HIM SHINE TODAY!!!! Willie does have early onset cataracts but his eye exam indicates that his vision is not compromised at all and he gets around like a champ! Willie came to us with only 2 teeth. He just had his dental and now he has exactly ZERO teeth left because these were badly decayed. But a little warm water on his kibble to soften it and he is able to eat just fine. Willie was also neutered and micro-chipped with his dental procedure so now this sweet boy is all set and ready to find his PAWFECT FUREVER HOME! Willie is outgoing, curious, and in typical tiny Yorkie style he is NOT AFRAID OF ANYTHING! Willie will “ask” for attention and to be picked up by barking. He likes to sit in your lap but his favorite “cuddle” position is to be nestled close under your arm right by your side. Willie likes to play and explore but he is not much a fan of toys. He generally is not super interested in the other dogs in his foster home though he has tried to make a “love connection” with one of his foster siblings but we hope that his recent neutering will curtail this behavior LOL! Due to his status as a toothless dog, he will need have his kibble softened with warm water or eat soft food and treats for the rest of his life. Willie is NOT a fan of being left alone or in a crate. He would do well in a home with a work-from-home adopter, a retiree, or someone who could take him to work with then. He will follow you everywhere like a tiny furry shadow. Willie is a very smart little fellow, but he can be stubborn. He was not house-trained when he came to UYR but he is making progress and marking less but he needs a patient adopter who will help him continue to progress. He is so smart, he should be easy to get to where he needs to be fairly easily. Willie might enjoy another dog of similar age, size and energy to be pals with but that is not essential for a stay-at-home adopter and he likely also do well as an only dog. Due to his very tiny size Willie must go to an adults only home, no exceptions. Willie is ready to find his person so if you fit the bill please apply to adopt him today!
