Here's what the humans have to say about me:
1.5 year old Gertie just melts in your hands. Literally! Put your hand out and she will rest her big ol' head in there and sink lower and lower until you tire of it. She loves to climb up on your lap and just nap for as long as you'll let her. She's calm and quiet, though when she does bark at a knock outside, she has the cutest raspy woof. She gets along with other dogs, but she prefers males (she's been co-existing with the her foster female but they mostly ignore each other and things can get heated if there's food or toys around). She loves walks but she's very distracted by squirrels and pulls a little when she sees them, so she will need some training on this. She's learning potty training and how to be a dog. Her past was pretty rough, locked up in a house with no food and when she came into our care she was all skin and bones, weighing barely 40 lbs, and had dry, flaky fur, fleas and intestinal worms.. We want her to never have to think of that life again!! She's well behaved with children. She does know how to climb a chain linked fence so a privacy fence is a must! The vet thinks she's had a litter of puppies at some point in her short life too. Gertie has since put on good weight, has kicked the worms & fleas, and her coat is silky and smooth. She's been taught basic commands and is very food motivated. She's incredibly intelligent!
