Here's what the humans have to say about me:
MEET Cody -
Cody is a handsome 5 year old, long hair, 10 lb. Rare AKC White merle color Doxie. He is neutered, up to date on shots, but may be in need of a dental cleaning. He is crate trained and leash & potty trained, but gets very nervous when traveling and going for car rides, and may need to be in his crate on some anxiety meds when going on long trips. He may gets startled if someone approaches his crate too quickly, so its a good idea to walk over slowly and calmy when going to his crate. He knows basic commands, and is good with other dogs and children, but has not been in contact with any cats. He was raised with his beautiful sister Casey who is also available for adoption! Cody is leash trained and loves to go for walks and run around in the yard. Cody is very affectionate and really likes to cuddle, he enjoys sitting on your lap and getting lots of pets and love! This handsome little gentleman will definitely be adopted soon so get your applications in today!
Cody will do best in a family with a stay at home parent (work from home or retired) and only older children (over age 12), who are familiar with the special needs of Dachshunds.
Like all Dachshunds, Cody is high energy and enjoys playing and warming his little bones in the sunshine, so along with regular walks around his neighborhood, Cody needs a secure fenced yard to run around and explore safely. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes with secure fenced yards.
OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):
Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 12 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc). Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.
WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:
All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $495, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.
Can you give Cody a happy, carefree life again? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net. The adoption committee will attempt to be in contact with you within 48-72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
