Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Gingerbread. Ginger is a 1 year old female Borador (BC/ Lab Mix). Ginger came out of the Barstow shelter, where there is very little foot traffic with adopters. She is also a bit of a bigger dog, weighing in at about 60 lbs. She can be a bit strong on the leash, but once she matures a bit, she should settle down.
It is apparent that Ginger was raised without any training. Ginger loves to play with the other dogs, and she plays rough with them. She is still learning her dog manners and quite a few of the adult fosters will put her in her place. She takes the correction really well. Ginger does want to do the right thing and she is eager to please you. She probably would love to have a canine sibling in her life.
Ginger is learning basic obedience. She is truly a diamond in the rough for a person who has time and patience to invest in her. There is no doubt that Ginger will be a great dog under the right tutelage. Ginger craves human interaction and it is apparent that she wants to partner up with her human. Ginger has quite of bit of energy, which is typical for a yearling her age.
Ginger’s adopters must be committed to work with the destruction and energy associated with raising a puppy, along with housebreaking accidents. Her adopter is going to need to start at square one as she is probably not housebroken nor has she been obedience trained.
As with all puppies, socialization and puppy obedience classes are a must. This will ensure that you will have an outgoing, socialized, well behaved, and well adjusted adult dog in your family.
If you are interested in meeting our dogs, please fill out an adoption application. We require a pre-approved application to be on file before any meet and greets are scheduled. The electronic application can be found on our website at http://www.bordercolliesinneed.org/border_collie_rescue_and_adoptions/adoption_application.html
