Patches is a 6 year old spayed female terrier mix who was living with a family in a trailer park before she came to CPP. She was kept outside on a rope because her family didn't have a fenced yard, and because she wasn't fixed, she had puppies. Unfortunately, this friendly girl is also heartworm positive, and CPP has been treating her with the slow kill method recommended by our vet.
Initially, Patches is very feisty with other dogs and wants to establish pecking order, but once she is comfortable, she gets along well with other dogs and ignores attempts to start fights over resources such as food.
Because she has always been an outside dog, Patches probably is not housebroken, but she is so eager to please humans that she should learn quickly. She is also very friendly with all of the people she has met and loves getting attention.
We do not know how Patches is with cats.
