My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Teddy is a very sweet boy we rescued from the street a few months ago. He was rail thin, dehydrated and had a very low red blood cell count. He was not going to make it much longer, but has made a miraculous recovery!

Teddy can be a solo cat or go to a home with other companions. He is neutered, vaccinated, FIV/FeLV negative, and estimated to be 5 or 6 years old.

He has Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), which is very manageable and he can enjoy a great quality of life, but he will require blood pressure medication and regular vet visits to check his blood work.

Thanks to donations from our supporters, in January 2019 he had a SUB (subcutaneous ureteral bypass) device installed to ensure urine flows from the kidney to the bladder without any obstructions. This device significantly increases his quality of life, and he is feeling so much better! The SUB device will require regular checkins to "flush" the device with his vets in Manhattan. Please contact us for more details on this - we estimate Teddy's maintenance costs for the SUB will be around $2,000/year for the first few years, and then slightly lower as it requires fewer checkins.
