Here's what the humans have to say about me:
When I rescued Bishop from the county shelter after his owner moved without taking pets, I thought I was saving a gorgeous white shepherd/husky mix with stunning blue eyes. I thought he would be adopted quickly after getting neutered. Then I discovered he had partial hearing loss at low frequency levels. Well, that wasn't a big problem. I had previously found loving homes for other hearing impaired dogs where hand signals and routines compensated for hearing loss. As Bishop waited for a family to adopt him, he became crate and leash trained, learned to enjoy other dogs, cats, and horses, and grew quickly. He kept growing. Unfortunately, his front leg bones didn't grow correctly. The vet says his radius bone stopped growing prematurely while his ulna bone kept growing. The outcome is that both front legs curve outward and he walks on the outside of his front paws. While Bishop's hearing isn't 100% and his legs are crooked, his personality is in the top 5% for gentleness, trust, companionship, soulfulness, happiness, and emotional well-being. Bishop has wonderful potential to become a therapy dog for emotional support, a reading assistant in a school setting, or a child's best friend. Bishop has been neutered, vet checked, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and takes heartworm prevention. His adoption fee is waived to an approved adopter. Now that Bishop seems to have stopped growing, he is agile without discomfort. He likes to run in the fenced yard playing with other dogs. Bishop does not have the high energy level of many huskies and shepherds. He often relaxes calmly with a doggie toy. Email petsavernc@bellsouth.net for an adoption application.
