Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Dawson (ARPH #8529) is a returnee to rescue, through not fault of his own. Having been originally adopted in May of 2006, Dawson was very happy in his forever home and they loved him dearly. When a baby girl was born into the family, Dawson proved to be very gentle with her. However, after several months, the baby was getting sick more often and after many tests, it was determined she has severe allergies, and Dawson was one of the worse, so sadly, his owners of two years had to return Dawson to us.
Having lived the last two years as an only dog, Dawson is having to learn how to live with other dogs again and so far is doing quite well in his foster home with two females, one of which is very dominant. She and Dawson have butted heads a few times, and although nothing serious, we still think he will do better in a home with a more submissive, laid back female, rather than one that will want to challenge his every move.
Dawson is now about 2.5 yrs old, a very handsome blue merle with alot of black. He is long legged and lean for a male. He is housebroken but prefers to have his crate handy for when loud noises scare him or if he just wants to rest. Leaving the crate door open works just fine for him. Dawson is good on lead and is actually doing a little running with his foster dad now. He likes the stillness of water at the lake or pond and has been to the ocean, although the weather and water were pretty cold the day he was there. Like most aussies, he is very velcro and likes to have his humans close by. He is a good traveler in the car but has been known to try and drive if not crated or harnessed in the back seat.
Dawson is current on all his vet work and getting the monthly prevents for heartworm and fleas that every doggie needs. Dawson is being fostered in Charlotte, NC. If you are an approved adopter and would like more information about Dawson, please contact robinmccann@bellsouth.net All others are welcome to fill out an adoption application online from either www.aussierescue.org or www.carolinasaussies.net
