Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Cocoa came from a shelter in SC. She was born on 7/2/17 and weighs 11 lbs. She is very shy, until she gets to know you.
She is mostly potty trained, but still leaves deposits in the house occasionally. She is crate trained up to 5-6 hours and she sleeps all night with her foster mom and two other dogs. She will come to her foster mom and will do a little dance when she wants to be picked up. She taught herself how to use the doggie door at her foster mom’s house by watching how the others went through it. She loves playing with the other dogs at her foster mom’s home and she runs circles around them. She has taken possession of her foster mom’s slippers and that’s okay with her foster mom. Her foster mom says cheapest dog toys ever from Wal-Mart, costing about $2. She also likes her foster mom’s sandals but she takes them away from her.
She barks at her foster dad when he comes home from work, and now goes out for him and takes treats from him. He has been working on spending more time with her and there has been improvement. She does not mind being held by strangers, but she will not approach them. She does not like her feet touched.
Her foster parents bought her a bed, harness, leash and dish on her first day. Foster mom put her in the bed, on her bed and Cocoa went to sleep. About 3am Cocoa got up, gave her foster mom a couple kisses on the cheek, nibbled on her fingers, got a belly rub and then snuggled up next to her foster mom for the rest of the night. As soon as her foster mom sits down, Cocoa’s right there to be picked up. She is learning to walk on a leash.
Cocoa eats good, has not needed pee pads, although she did use them during hurricane Florence, and she loves being outside. She is spunky and sassy and just too stinkin’ cute!
She does not like to be picked up, but will jump on the bed, sofa or chair to cuddle. When picked up, her foster mom thinks she feels insecure in midair as her legs go every which way. Once Cocoa is held close, she’s fine. Cocoa is still shy around strangers, which may never change, but she no longer hides from them.
Cocoa is UTD on shots, spayed and on HW preventive.
The adoption donation is $250.00. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below.
To submit an application go here……chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/
An application must be submitted and approved before a meet-n-greet can be scheduled.
Your current dogs/cats must be spayed or neutered unless a veterinarian has determined that your current pet(s) should not be fixed due to medical reasons. They must also be up-to-date on shots and on HW preventative.
Reference checks and a home visit are required so SE dogs can only be adopted in NC/SC, VA MD and GA.
