Here's what the humans have to say about me:
YOU MUST HAVE AN APPROVED APPLICATION IN ORDER TO SET UP A TIME TO MEET OUR PETS.
Delilah is an 8 pound, approximately 3 year old Chihuahua who enjoyed life with her elderly owner and several other dogs until the owner died. She has one bright, normal eye, and one that never formed so has no vision.
The good samaritan who took her in short term said that, as soon as Delilah understands she can trust you, she is a sweet little thing who loves to snuggle and sleep under the covers in the big bed. She was even great with a well behaved 13 year old who met her in her foster home.
During her photo session, Delilah started out as a total scardy cat, but was still happy to be held on a lap and gently petted. Part way through the photo session, when hanging out on the floor near this new person, she all of a sudden decided that the new person was trustworthy and she came belly crawling up close for affection and tummy rubs. It was like everything just clicked in place and she was ready to show her true self. She was even perfectly fine with snapping on the leash and going for a walk, then coming back for more snuggles and tummy rubs, sweet girl.
Her true self really is delightful. She is a loving sweetheart who loves to be close to her person.
Of course, in true Chihuahua fashion, Delilah will probably show you her scardy cat self when you come to meet her. All she needs is a little time and patience in her new home and she will blossom and show you her real, wonderful self.
She will need a gentle new home that is experienced with Chihuahuas who have not been well socialized. She will also need a peaceful home with no active little kids to overwhelm her. She will probably always be shy natured but will do much better with more experience.
She does enjoy having a companion dog and will benefit from having a more confident pup around to show her the ropes in her new house. She used to like to snuggle and play with one of the dogs from her prior home.
Delilah is housed with our other little indoor dogs and doing great with them. They all go out in a group outside to take care of business and play in the yard.
Give her a chance and you will have a great little friend in Delilah! She is already good on the leash (snug collar is needed just in case something startles her) and her foster mom said she was pee pad trained. We do not know if she is housetrained but she did spend her life in a loving home so should be comfy with household routines once she gets acclimated.
Adoption donation $175.
