Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Bruce and Alfred came to us after their young guardian could no longer care for them. Purchased at a store at different times, and with unknown histories, the boys lived together somewhat peacefully, but with no veterinary attention ever provided. Sadly, this is often the case with many companion animals who are sold inexpensively at stores, labeled as starter pets, pockets pets, and good-for-children pets. With no information on adequate care and housing provided, even well-intentioned guardians can fail to provide even the most basic necessities for these delicate and good-natured animals, often resulting in bodily harm, health problems, and psychological scars.
Bruce and Alfred were hand-shy when they came to us, and we will never know what Bruce went through, in the store or at his previous home, to be as uncomfortable with touch as he is. In spite of this, he loves human attention, and will often stand on his hind legs to greet new people when they enter the room. He loves his greens, and vocalizing, together with his adoptive brother, his great dissatisfaction if their foster mom dares take too long to serve their daily salads.
Bruce is a Peruvian guinea pig, in good health, and estimated to be around 1.5 years old by our vet. He is the alpha piggy, who always takes the best napping spots, and loves being hand-fed cherry tomatoes in the morning. He loves his brother, Alfred, and even more having Alfred serve and adore him. Alfred, the Abyssinian guinea pig, is estimated to be around 1 year old, and in good health. He loves being groomed by his foster mom, loves attention, and is coming more and more out of his shell with each new day.
The boys, adoptable as a pair only, would best be suited for a quiet home with no small children, with experienced cavy guardians, who are ready to devote the time and care to help these boys overcome their past, and adjust to a new life and a new family. If this is you, contact us at adopt@emptycagescollective. Otherwise, please share. Help us find these adorable boys their true forever family!
