Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Duke, a 2.5 year-old, Yorkshire Terrier/Havanese cross. This sweet and spunky little “Havashire” is a heart stealer and bound to delight all small-dog loving humans! Duke is alert, perky and a little protective - even though he’s pint size! The Havashire combination is becoming more and more popular because it’s a perfect blend of two very popular breeds: the very loving and gentle nature of the Havanese and the confident, clever and adventurous nature of the YorkshireTerrier!
Duke is especially loyal to his family who have had him since he was a puppy. He absolutely loves having his humans around and often sticks very close to their side. His velcro personality will have him napping in laps or sleeping near someone’s head. Knowing his need for human companionship, his family has made the very difficult decision to part with him. Their work schedules are making it impossible for Duke to get the attention he needs and they want him to have a happier life, living with people who will be his companions day and night!
Don’t let this 9-pound ball of fur lull you into thinking he’s just a pocket dog. He was the largest of his litter and sees himself as being at least two-feet tall! He’s not at all afraid to meet new people and will share his affection with strangers and children. He especially loves to meet the smaller humans as they’re the perfect size for him to play with. Duke might be a bit timid when first meeting other dogs, but once relaxed he is very friendly with them. He hasn’t had the opportunity to meet a cat and it is unknown how he may react.
Duke is generally low-energy but still delights in chasing his favourite ball or playing fetch with a toy. He enjoys going for short walks a couple of times a day, but will want to curl up for a nap afterwards. Duke’s a smart little guy and will be quick to learn new tricks and routines.
Duke was bred to be hypoallergenic and does not shed. His coat is short but benefits from regular brushing. He has all of his vaccinations and will be neutered and microchipped.
Yorkshire Terriers are spunky and loyal. Havanese are intelligent and affectionate. Duke blends all these characteristics into one loving package. He’s looking forward to meeting his new family who’ll keep him company and shower him with love. He’ll return the favour by making them laugh and giving them all of his love too!
