Here's what the humans have to say about me:
No longer in the dark, no longer in the cold, Skip has a new lease on life and he'd love nothing more than to be a part of your life. If interested in adopting Skip please fill out an application here http://www.bestfriendsforlifeanimalrescue.com/ If I didn't have you I'd long ago Been left in the dark, out in the cold. Blowing around from town to town Like a feather in the wind. Lost in the rain of a hurricane, And that's where I'd have been. But I didn't get lost cause I saw your light Shining like a beacon on a cold dark night And the sun came up and the skies turned blue No I wouldn't have nothing If I didn't have you - from 'If I Didn't Have You' written by Skip Ewing Skip was a lost and lonely boy who found himself amongst hundreds of other lost and lonely souls in an overcrowded southern shelter. He was one of the fortunate ones who were pulled by a rescue group and placed in a loving foster home where his new life began. Skip is a one year old Hound/Lab mix weighing 35 lbs. He's usually pretty laid back and low key. He proved to be a quick study by following the example of his foster siblings so he has never had an accident in the house. He does use a doggy door so he will need to learn new schedules and routines in his forever home. He is also crate trained and for the most part has nice house manners. He has been known to jump on a counter or two if food is left out so kitchen supervision will be needed. Skip is well behaved on leash. He can be a bit hesitant if cars are driving by. Foster mom says his confidence continues to improve with each walk. He likes sleeping on his doggy bed next to the human bed, although he seems to be deciding if he'd like to jump on the bed and hang out with some of his siblings (it's one big slumber party there). We think his past may have included some physical abuse by a man as he tends to be scared of them and will stay away or ignore them for quite some time. With time and patience he slowly began to warm up to his foster dad. He'd love to have a loving mom who understands and is willing to work with him on his fearfulness of men. A very patient and understanding dad would be a must. Skip seems to be more of a morning guy, that is when he likes to play and be silly. After that he pretty much goes into chill out mode. He's good with other dogs and every now and then he'll instigate play with the others, otherwise he just likes to hang out and do his own thing. We are not sure how he feels about cats, so a one on one meeting with a cat home would be a must. He does like kids and enjoys the company of the 10 year old little boy in his foster home. Skip is already neutered, up to date on all vaccinations, current on preventatives, and micro chipped. He's looking for the chance of a lifetime to make his life perfect and complete, he's looking for his very own forever family. No more being lost in the rain or floating around like a feather in the wind, but he needs you to be that light shining like a beacon so he will now have everything ...if he has you.
