Meet Monty, a short, dark and handsome 2 year old Maine Coon. Did you know that the Maine Coon is a historical cat breed native to the US? First published reference to a Maine Coon was in 1861 about Captain Jenks who served with the Horse Marines. If you think all that fur requires a lot of grooming, it doesn’t! His fur’s silky texture doesn’t mat easily so a brushing twice a week is all he needs to stay this handsome. Monty is good natured and likes being with you. He comes for attention but if you’re busy, he happy to sit and supervise. He can climb and jump as easily as any cat, but he seems to prefer to stay on ground level. His breed is known to adapt well to many lifestyles. He meows a little to greet me when I enter his private suite but, as a whole, his breed is not very vocal. He is currently a little underweight from his time on the street but his breed weighs generally between 9-18 lbs.
