Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Our rescue has 9!! litter mates available for adoption. They are super social, fun, and playful. They were rescued from a shelter in Texas (but are now in WA), so we don't know the parents but we assign breeds based on looks as best as we can. There are 7 females and 2 males. They all have similar markings and have 2-3 colors, but some are a very dark brown with other colors and some are more tan/light brown. Either way all of them are gorgeous. They will make great family pets. Their adoption fee is $600 each.

Our organization saves dogs and cats from high kill shelters in Texas, with a few exceptions. 95-99% of our animals come from Texas, 1-5% come from WA state (owner surrenders, 'feral' cats that can be tamed). The cost of rescuing these precious souls from Texas is immense. We have to pay for vetting, any extra medical they may need, health certificates, often times boarding, food and litter, training if necessary, and more.
We try to help the 'plain looking' cats and dogs, the black ones who get overlooked in shelters (this is a proven fact), the bully breed mixes that stand no chance in Texas, the pitbulls and chihuahuas who are so abundant in shelters in Texas, the heartworm positive dogs who need expensive treatment before we can bring them to WA state, and more. We are not a retail rescue. We do not pick ur dogs and cats based on breed or looks. If there is a foster in Texas willing to take them in until transport to WA state, we save them.
We do not get a lot of donations. We are small but mighty. We have no overhead for paid staff or paid marketing. Your adoption fee is what allows us to operate and continue saving more lives. The adoption fee is not a price tag that resembles the worth (it would priceless if that was the case) or the cost of the pet you are adopting. It is a flat, standard fee that allows us to continue saving animals from death. Some of the shelters we pull from euthanize as many as 100 animals per day. Your puppy didn't cost us $600, but the senior heartworm positive pit bull cost us $1,000 and he will only be adopted for $200. It is not quid pro quo. But you are not purchasing an object. You are taking in a pet once discarded by humans and by that you are becoming part of the circle that will allow us to help more animals. You are paying it forward, just like someone else paid it forward so we could save your new dog or cat.
