My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Riley: 2-yr-old female yellow Lab 75 pounds spayed

Background: Surrendered by her Manteca owner who could not afford her ongoing medical expenses, Riley lived most of her life in an apartment with a loving family.

What Riley’s Foster says: Miss Riley is a bundle of two-year-old energy. She loves to play with the dogs that live in her foster home; they all pull on ropes and roll around in the yard then search for missing tennis balls and have great adventures. Riley gets along with everyone and fits right into any situation. She is completely house-trained and has learned to use the dog door. She sleeps well through the night, but would rather not get up early in the morning. Riley loves everyone. She is clumsy due to her weak back leg, but that never slows her down. The kids have begun calling her “Smiley Riley” because her smile is so happy. She would love a family who has a lot of love to give and time to play! She exhibits no separation anxiety, is able to be left inside, with the dog door open for a few hours with no issues. At age two, labs are still puppies, so she has a lot to learn, but is learning quickly. She is a bit mouthy, never biting down. In her play, she does not come when called and is not yet good on a leash. She also seems to get carsick, but that may be a result of her ear infection, so it may improve. I have no doubt that Riley will have a long, happy life with a great family!

What Riley’s Rescue Rep says: What a delightful gal… but limping around on her bad leg. Difficult to hold back “Miss Wiggles”. Lab Rescue is committed to providing (and paying for) ACL surgery to Riley, but her adopters will have to be resolutely committed to the 3-4 month rehabilitation and recovery plan. An outstanding dog for a family with children.

Medical Information: Current on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and spayed. Lab Rescue will arrange for her ACL surgery once she is adopted.

Riley is located in: Oakley.

(Please keep in mind we are all volunteers, most of us work full time and we all have personal lives. I do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient and I will be back in touch with you. When the dogs are in foster homes then it may take longer as we need to touch base with the fosters for updates on the dogs. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week and we do not have a facility that we keep the dogs housed in. They are scattered all over the Bay Area.)
