Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We’re sure this striking guy’s astonishing looks caught your attention. Herbie is approximately 2 years old, black and tan, and neutered. He was found as a stray and seems to be a troubled soul and will need just the right home so please read the criteria below before you submit an application based on looks.
Herbie is a puzzling dog whose background we know very little about. We are still discovering what issues Herbie may have had that would compel his owner to not come find him and leave him to fend for himself. The shelter who found Herbie quickly adopted him out, un-neutered, into an inexperienced home who did not give him time to acclimate and decompress in this new environment, which set Herbie up for failure. While most dogs will go with the flow of their new environment, Herbie is one of those dogs whose new world made no sense to him and he growled and snapped in fear and was returned (twice).
Any new home who adopts this handsome boy will be carefully selected to ensure the new owner is experienced with Dobermans and are dedicated to giving him structure and routine in a quiet environment for many months until he understands expectations and is comfortable.
Herbie has tremendous potential. He is extremely friendly, master of the Doberman lean, likes other dogs, is indifferent towards cats, and wants one single human to love him.
Herbie will require a quiet, one-person household with very few visitors during Herbie’s first several months. We believe Herbie is happiest when he’s outside romping and playing. A very large yard to run and get exercise is necessary as is a plan for managing his changeable behavior and avoiding setting him up for failure. A disciplined person who understands the importance of structure and routine and consistent training is essential for a successful rehoming.
Are you that person? If so, please submit an application at https://www.dprpa.org/applicationform
