Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Bear needs a home: Approx 10 years old, neutered with all shots, microchipped. DNA test confirmed Corgi/Chow/White shepherd/breed mix. Current weight is around 85# (has lost ten pounds). VERY Housebroken (I swear he could hold it for 16 hours), uses dog door. Okay with cats, kids, horses, chickens. Good watch dog, that is only time he barks and stops once he meets strangers. Would be okay with another dog but he'll ignore them and be jealous if there aren't enough hands! Very good on a leash or walks without one. Likes to be brushed, allows my nail clipping. Currently on dry food only., Contact salemdogs@aol.com for information on how to adopt Bear.
A special note from Salem Dogs to potential adopters: People are amazed when they get a quick response from SD. Evidently the norm is quite a delay before hearing back from the rescue group. There are a few things you can do to set yourself apart and get a quick response. 1. register your search and when a dog that matches your criteria is posted, you will be notified. Get back immediately! 2. in your first note, tell the rescue group about yourself, family, home, yard, fence, other pets, work situation, veterinarian, and why you are interested in this particular dog.
We hear so often that "the dog I wanted was taken and there was a waiting list." Improve your chances of being selected as a 10-star home for the dog by providing information. DON'T expect a response from an email that says "Is this dog still available?" or "How much is this dog?" Those are statements that indicate you are surfing and are not really serious about adopting a dog.
