Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi, I'm Jackson. I'm a protector and I WILL protect my family. I have high energy and love kids...but can be rough with small children. I love to have room to run and hate small spaces. I don't really understand what the problem is at my current home. I'm just doing my job, and I love my job of protecting and herding. I guess I really need to be with a family who understands me and is away from neighbors who don't. Maybe my current family could come visit me. Are you up for a great dog who will love and protect you? Maybe herd your other animals?

This is from Jackson's human companion:
Jackson is a two-year-old Black Mouth Cur. He is about 45 lbs and is up to date on all of his shots. He was fixed at 3 months.
Jackson is a very sweet and loving dog to his family and the people that come to the house that he knows. He loves to cuddle and play with his toys. Unfortunately, Jackson is very aggressive with the people in the neighborhood that he does not know. If he escapes from the house without a leash he will charge toward a person that he does not know and will show his teeth. Jackson has never bitten anyone. We have 2 new sets of neighbors that have just moved in onto our private dirt road. When he gets out of the house he has charged them twice. With more children coming into the neighborhood I can not leave it to chance that he may hurt someone. One of my new neighbors is pregnant and I can not take the chance on my dog hurting her or anyone else. My heart is breaking as I write this because he is such a love. He just doesn't understand that the neighbors are not a threat. I am stressed all the time that he will get out of the house.
This is from Jackson's vet:
This is a lovey woman who teaches with [my husband]. She is devastated that she cannot keep him. She has new neighbors that have threatened to shoot him if he goes on their property again and she doesn’t know what to do.
Time is of the essence.

More details:
The Black Mouth Cur is a purebred dog that hails from the southeastern United States where it was bred to be an all-around working dog capable of protecting its human family, and the United Kennel Club recognizes the Black Mouth Cur as a purebred scenthound. These dogs are known for their courage, loyalty, and strength, though they are also quite sensitive and are highly intuitive when it comes to knowing how their humans are feeling. The Black Mouth Cur requires an experienced owner with a Goldilocks approach to training. Owners must be firm, but not overly punitive or harsh to find a balance that is just right. These dogs have high exercise needs and do best with a large yard where they can run in addition to being provided with at least one long walk per day, lest they become bored and destructive in the home. They interact well with people and other dogs, though they are highly territorial and may respond aggressively to perceived intruders or threats to their family.
