Here's what the humans have to say about me:
JACK is a 4-year-old neutered male black lab. Jack weighs 51 pounds and is up to date on shots. This dog is approved for homes with children ages 10 and up.
DESCRIPTION Someone got caught sampling the sugar bowl! Jack is sugary sweet and so adorable. This handsome black boy has dreamy chocolate brown eyes and the cutest muzzle with a dusting of powdered sugar just around his mouth. Jack is a friendly guy who gets along well with other dogs. He was found as a stray and will need to gain at least 10 pounds. Jack is ready to find a family to feed him, love him, and spoil him silly. Jack is good with dogs. You'd think that life as a stray might have dimmed his outlook on life, but he is the most genial dog we have ever met. His tail is always wagging. Having finally gotten a taste of a better life, he has become a velcro dog, always keeping his fosters in sight. This easy-going boy doesn't ask for much. He prefers the hard wooden floor to rugs or dog beds. Jack is still learning how to live in a home: he is a little afraid on the stairs and curious about televisions and his own refection. He goes into his crate dutifully but not of his own accord. He rides well in the car and walks nicely on a leash. He greeted a neighbor at the door in a calm, friendly manner. Jack is an adaptable fellow and settled in quickly. We are working to put weight on him and teach him some commands.
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
Setting: Rural, suburban
Dwelling: Single family
Fence: No fence required
Jack is from a rural area and has not been exposed to traffic, noise, or groups of people. If dogs are overwhelmed by their environment, they can exhibit behaviors like excessive barking. To avoid this, for now we are limiting placement to stand alone single-family homes in a suburban neighborhood or rural area. As we learn more from the dog's time spent in foster, we will evaluate if placement can be expanded to include a more urban environment and send out an update.
This dog is available for adoption from Lab Rescue LRCP. Lab Rescue LRCP rescues and places dogs in Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware and northeast North Carolina (30 miles east of I-95 and north of the Pamlico Sound.) Adopters must travel to Maryland, or Virginia with their family - human and canine - to meet the dog they want to adopt.
Lab Rescue LRCP has between 40 - 80 dogs available for adoption from foster homes across Maryland and Virginia, and at monthly adoption events. The adoption event dates and locations are listed at www.lab-rescue.org.
If you are interested in adopting, please visit www.lab-rescue.org and complete an adoption application. After you submit an application, you will hear from an Adoption Coordinator who will guide you through the adoption process.
