Juneau is a beautiful, playful 15 month old pup (DOB 9/2/17) with a silly and fun-loving personality. Her mom was half Berne-doodle/Border collie and her dad was Border Collie/McNab Shepard. This adorable girls family asked Fuzzy Pawz to help them find her a new home because she and her brother are not getting along (reminder to everyone NOT to adopt siblings). It's not Juneau's fault - heck would you want to live with your brother for the rest of your life?
This girl is good with all other dogs she meets and would do well in a home with another friendly, playful dog. We do recommend no cats in her new home however.
Juneau trains easily and is treat motivated. She knows sit, stay, look etc. We are working on “off” since she does jump some and gets excited when people come over but that is getting better quickly as she works with Julie Anderson from Bad Behavior/Good Dog. We use a special leash method that keeps her from pulling and she LOVES going on walks and runs. She does get distracted by people or dogs walking by so she is working on “leave it”. She is fairly active and will need daily walks/runs and we think she'd love to go hiking and camping.
She loves to play tug-o-war, and loves bones (especially cow or goat hooves). She loves squeaky toys but tends to destroy them quickly - she is just a chewer in general (thus the bones). Juneau loves to wrestle with other dogs and play chase around the yard. Juneau's favorite thing in the world is tummy rubs and she’ll roll over every single time you walk by her to have her tummy pet, no matter what time of day or night!
She is skiddish with new people at first, especially men for some reason. It does take her a bit to warm up. Sometimes it can take a couple hours just sitting on the floor and just “hanging out” with her to get her to warm up. But after that you can bet she will be your best friend and will be rolling over for belly rubs. She has never been aggressive or bit anyone, but needs new people to move slowly with her and be patient as she warms up, to be safe. We recommend no kids under 12 for Juneau due to her shyness.
Juneau is not crate trained. She is house trained. She is used to our house that has a dog door and having full access to inside/outside throughout the day; she will need a regular potty schedule the first few days in a new home. She will bark and/or dig in the backyard when she is bored - mental and physical exercise consistently should take care of this problem.
Overall Juneau is a great dog with a lot to offer to someone who will give her a bit of time to adjust to her new home and who will keep up with her socialization and give her a good exercise routine.
