Here's what the humans have to say about me:
The following are some of the comments my foster angel Mum has sent about me: 'Valero is a complete and total sweetheart. While most of the time he has a calm and gentle demeanour, he can also be a bit of a spitfire when it comes time to play. He really just wants to spend time with his human and dog pack. That is definitely his life's highest goal'. 'He is ok with some cats, others are for chasing. He loves all dogs, but some may have a problem with him. While he definitely understands socialization with humans, he can really miss the ball when it comes to other dogs. Other dogs can be sure to let him know he is the biggest dork they have ever met!' 'His bestfriend Benny is probably the first dog friend he has ever had in his life, and he is super duper attached. I suspect that he spent quite a bit of time alone', 'With the use of his favourite treats he has learned: not to jump up on people, to sit for treats, affection and food, and in general, how to understand and respect personal boundaries' 'He has an incredibly calming and soothing presence, he just really wants to be around his person/people.' 'He is always up for a leashed adventure and he enjoys retrieving balls, rope and just about any toy - but only for a few minutes at a time' 'When he sits for attention and you put your arms around him he just turns into warm butter'. 'He is very potty trained now (thank you fancy meat treats for providing incentive) but he should be crated when no one is home. He does very well when he goes out in public and enjoys making new friends everywhere he goes'. 'Valero still needs some training but that is ok because you can teach him what you want him to know and he is a speedy learner' 'He is a really sensitive guy and he responds very well to positive reinforcement. He is also incredibly endearing. It is impossible not to love him if you have spent any time with him. Valero is an excellent little dog' - Valero's foster Mom Doesn't this guy sound amazing? We don't usually just quote the foster directly, but when the foster gives us so much information and clearly loves the dog - it just seems right. They know the dog better than anyone.
*All of The Right to Live dogs are fostered locally in San Antonio Texas and will be transported to other states to their new families upon adoption. We believe fostering dogs and not having them decompress in a kennelled environment is more beneficial for the dogs and builds their trust and companionship in a family situation. Adoption fee includes transportation costs, previous/current medical treatment (spay/neuter, etc.) and a health certificate for cross-state travel*
