Smokey is a loveable 2 year old cattle dog that came to us from Texas. He’s is very friendly with every person he meets. He's in a foster home with other dogs and cats. We haven’t tested him around kids; he’s seen them running and playing at a distance and has ignored them. He’d benefit from a home with another dog to play with and show him the rope. He’s somewhat under-socialized and insecure. He’s great meeting new dogs off-leash and is not territorial. But if he’s on-leash and encounters a medium or large dog, he will bark at them. He’s not an aggressive dog just insecure. He does fine with off-leash greetings and will take a little time to wait up to playing with a new dog. Smokey plays great with the dogs in his foster home and he doesn’t resource guard. He LOVES going to nose work class and would benefit from a forever home that will continue to do confidence-building activities with him. He doesn’t likes baths but is fine with nail trims. He doesn’t like being crated and will bark at first. He loves car rides and running errands with his people. He’s sweet and cuddly at home. Smokey has been diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease. His weight and GI symptoms have improved since being on a new diet (Honest Kitchen fish recipe) and medications (B12, tylosin). Smokey is neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. He’s being fostered in Gig Harbor and his adoption fee is $330.
