My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Golly G. is 10.5 years old and weighs a little too chubby 11.5 pounds. He is being fostered in Leesburg, FL.

UPDATED BIO 11/05/2018: Golly G, or Gee as we call him, is making good progress in his foster home. He has now had all his vaccinations, his neuter and his dental. He did lose a bunch of teeth, but he still has quite a few left. He is on antibiotics, and eye and ear drops for infections. He doesn’t love taking the meds, but he doesn’t put up a fuss and takes whatever he is given like a champ.

Gee’s blood work showed that he may have an underactive thyroid. He will get another blood test to check his thyroid in 2 weeks. If his score is still low, he will be prescribed thyroid medication. This may be the reason he is a little overweight, too. We will know more in 2 weeks.

Gee was a little slow to adjust to life in his foster home. He spent a lot of time in his doggie bed, but now he is coming around and doing so much better. He is walking around more, going outside with everyone, and exploring the big backyard. Gee appears to also be doing his business outside. He was so good in the car, at the groomer and at the vet. He has become a good eater, and sleeps all night in his doggie bed. He is becoming fonder of his foster mom and dad and enjoying our company more and more. His foster mom and dad have yet to hear him bark. Gee is fine with other dogs, though he hasn’t yet interacted with any of the other dogs in his foster home. He is just such a good boy, so sweet, so adorable, and so good. It is hard not to love this little guy.

When Gee is ready for his forever home he would love one with someone home a lot of the time. He will need someone who is patient and understanding; someone who will be able to give him the time he needs to settle down in his new home. Gee won’t be a good companion for kids. Right now he is not a very active little guy. We are not sure he plays with toys or even plays. There is still so much more to know about Gee as his little personality comes out more each day.

Gee won’t be ready to go to his forever home until he has his next thyroid test. After we get those results we will know what lies ahead for him. If you think you might be the right home for sweet Gee and are willing to will wait until we know more, please submit an application for possible adoption of sweet Golly G, the best dog around.
