Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi, I’m Harley. Not sure why my owner surrendered me to an Arkansas shelter because I’m awesome! I was already house and kennel trained, knew how to sit, lay down and give my paw.
I had to pass 9 shelter tests that other breeds don’t have to take just because of my breed in order not to be put down. I passed all 9 tests with flying colors, but since I am an unwanted breed in a “Safe City” I still had to be quarantined until someone promised to love me.
Fortunately Ruff Life Dog Rescue of Illowa spoke up for me. I am so happy to be living in Iowa now; I have another big boy dog, Huck, to play with but I have to leave the cat alone. Even though she doesn’t like to play with me, she likes to sleep near me.
I have a few chew toys, (antlers and squeaky toys are my favorite) and LOVE tug of war. Another favorite is my ball with a hole in it that food comes out of when it rolls. I had a few stuffed toys that I think were defective because the stuffing came out real easy so I don’t get to play with those any more.
My kennel is pretty comfy, I never chew on my fluffy bed, and I go there just to relax sometimes.
I seldom bark and my momma loves it when I plop down in her lap and wiggle until I am comfy, then we just cuddle FOREVER! She even gave me my own chair to sit in when she has to do computer work (she doesn’t like when I type on her keyboard).
Everything is a game to me. A few games I know: Find It, Touch, Left Paw, Right Paw, Sit, Down, Wait, Look at Me, Kennel Up, Load Up, Go Outside, Leave It, Drop It, Walk “Get Busy” (when I’m outside only of course) and now I’m enrolled me in school, Momma wants me to walk better on a leash outside where there’s distractions since I am awesome at walking on a leash without distractions. There’s a bell on the outside door that I ring sometimes when I want to go out and “Get Busy” I never do that in the house or in my kennel, that would be gross!
I’m not really fond of showers, but they’re OK.
Now you have to remember; I am only 1 year old and even though I’m short, I weigh 52#, so I still want to play but I really love my naps too. I may take a toy that’s not mine but if you ask me, I’ll “Leave it” or “Drop it” it for you. I would probably be best in a home with kids over 5 years old so I won’t accidentally knock them over (again 52#).
As soon as I can find a forever home they can save another good ole’ dog, but until then, I am just waiting here with Momma, Huck and the kitty they call, “Leave it” until someone wants to love me forever.
I’m neutered, microchipped, current on all my vaccines and negative for heartworm or tick diseases. My adoption fee is $250.
Ruff Life Dog Rescue of Illowa is based in Davenport, IA. We do not have a shelter, so all of our dogs are in foster homes. If you have questions about this dog email us at adoptions@rufflifedogrescue.org, or complete an application at https://form.jotform.com/73194734170154.
