Here's what the humans have to say about me:
COOPER GOOBER is a 2-year-old neutered male yellow lab. Cooper Goober weighs 56 pounds and is up to date on shots. This dog is approved for homes with children ages 10 and up.
DESCRIPTION First things first I didn't name him, he had his name when he came in and I thought it will get him attention as it is a bit unusual. That being said Cooper is very easy, friendly with everyone and his tail is always wagging. He hasn't had a lot of attention lately as his owner is in the hospital so he wants to be around you to get attention which he rewards you Lableans and kisses. He likes to play and retrieves toys and balls. He has learned the kennel routine and enjoys going out to play with the other Lab Rescue dogs. He would like a home with an active family that will give him the training., love and care he has been missing. Kids 10 and up, he has been around the neighborhood kids but never lived with any. Good with other dogs. No cats, chases them. Knows sit come. Will have Training Addendum. Pulls on lead, better with an Easy Walk Harness. Reported crate trained, keeping room clean at the kennel. Cooper was given up because of owner is in hospital for extended period of time. Shortly after he adopted Cooper his mother went on home hospice care and he was her provider so Cooper didn't get a lot of training as a young puppy. Owner recently went into the hospital with cancer and has been unable to care for him so contacted a shelter to see if they could help, they contacted us.
Adopters must meet these requirements:
Setting: Rural, Suburban
Dwelling: Single Family Home
Fencing: Must have physical or underground fence.
Cooper is from a rural area and has not been exposed to traffic, noise, or groups of people. If dogs are overwhelmed by their environment, they can exhibit behaviors like excessive barking. To avoid this, for now we are limiting placement to stand alone single family homes in a suburban neighborhood or rural area. As we learn more from the dog's time spent in foster, we will evaluate if placement can be expanded to include a more urban environment and send out an update.
This dog is available for adoption from Lab Rescue LRCP. Lab Rescue LRCP rescues and places dogs in Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware and northeast North Carolina (30 miles east of I-95 and north of the Pamlico Sound.) Adopters must travel to Maryland, or Virginia with their family - human and canine - to meet the dog they want to adopt.
Lab Rescue LRCP has between 40 - 80 dogs available for adoption from foster homes across Maryland and Virginia, and at monthly adoption events. The adoption event dates and locations are listed at www.lab-rescue.org.
If you are interested in adopting, please visit www.lab-rescue.org and complete an adoption application. After you submit an application, you will hear from an Adoption Coordinator who will guide you through the adoption process.
An adoption fee is charged to cover the cost of veterinary care and a home visit is required.
