Here's what the humans have to say about me:
CONNER is a 4-year-old neutered male black lab. Conner weighs 59 pounds and is up to date on shots. This dog is approved for homes with children ages 10 and up.
DESCRIPTION Conner looks like a mess due to his Demodex but he will soon be a great looking pup. He is very smart, he quickly learned the kennels routine and when I had him out to play it took him about 30 seconds to find my stash of treats and toys in the bag I brought them in. He likes to retrieve and is good at it. He likes to be with you and get petted and thinks ear rubs are great, he gives a very contented moan while you are rubbing then rewards you with a kiss. He would love an active family that will give him lots of love and exercise out in the yard. Good with other dogs, have been out with other Lab Rescue dogs with no problems. Good with cat during their evaluation. They know sit, come and sometimes down. Pull on lead when walked together both want to take the lead. Better with an Easy Walk Harness. Have only been in crates at the vets and during transports but did well in them. May be house trained as they are keeping runs clean at kennel. Conner was a stray from one of the flooded areas of NC and brought to the shelter so he would be safe. He is a very sweet dog and you can tell he's had a rough year. No one came to claim him and they asked if we would take him as he probably wouldn't be adopted from the shelter.
Update: Conner is a playful 4 year old who is very curious. He LOVES to play with toys. He enjoys people and being wherever you are. Although he would prefer your bed, he is content sleeping on the dog bed. He has met other dogs and done well with them. He pulls a little on the leash, so an Easy Walk is best for him. He was treated for skin issues and his fur is coming back nicely. Conner is a sweet and playful boy who will make a family very happy.

Adopters must meet these requirements:
Setting: Rural, Suburban
Dwelling: Single Family Home, townhome
Fencing: No fence required
Conner is from a rural area and has not been exposed to traffic, noise, or groups of people. If dogs are overwhelmed by their environment, they can exhibit behaviors like excessive barking. To avoid this, for now we are limiting placement to stand alone single family homes in a suburban neighborhood or rural area. As we learn more from the dog's time spent in foster, we will evaluate if placement can be expanded to include a more urban environment and send out an update.
This dog is available for adoption from Lab Rescue LRCP. Lab Rescue LRCP rescues and places dogs in Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware and northeast North Carolina (30 miles east of I-95 and north of the Pamlico Sound.) Adopters must travel to Maryland, or Virginia with their family - human and canine - to meet the dog they want to adopt.
Lab Rescue LRCP has between 40 - 80 dogs available for adoption from foster homes across Maryland and Virginia, and at monthly adoption events. The adoption event dates and locations are listed at www.lab-rescue.org.
If you are interested in adopting, please visit www.lab-rescue.org and complete an adoption application. After you submit an application, you will hear from an Adoption Coordinator who will guide you through the adoption process.
An adoption fee is charged to cover the cost of veterinary care and a home visit is required.
