Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Due to unforeseen circumstances in the home, Bailey was being left for long periods on her own and there was no one to help guide her or spend quality time with her. Still, she has shown herself to be a lovely girl, quiet and well behaved in the home. She will need a family that will take her under their wing and help further her trust in the world and gain additional skills. Bailey is 2 years old and weighs approximately 55 lbs. She is a healthy girl, spayed and up to date on her vaccinations.
Here is what Bailey's foster family had to say about him:
Bailey is a beautiful, lovable and eager to please pup. She is super sweet and a friendly girl but due to her past she is a little shy when meeting new people. When we are out on walks and a stranger comes up to us, or coming home and the neighbours come to pet her, she is very interested in making friends and wants to say hello, but she is unsure and backs off when a hand is raised to her. Bailey was also very anxious around my dog at first, but because she is actually such a friendly dog, she did warm up quickly and they are now good friends. I do not have any cats in my home so I am unsure how she would react to a dog savvy cat.
Bailey's demeanor is always friendly, but unsure until she feels secure. She has never shown any aggression whatsoever and instead she will retreat from things that scare her. I brought out a broom for example and she just ran away and hid. She will definitely need a family that will be patient with her and willing to help build her confidence. The more people and things she is socialized with, the more confidence she gains and the more trusting she becomes in the world around her. She is very curious about everyone and everything and is eager to make friends. Once she is comfortable with you, she shows her true nature which is very affectionate and playful. With a bit of consideration and time, Bailey will be a wonderful family pet and a dog that will enjoy all that family life has to offer her.
Bailey is in good health and has a moderate to high energy level outside. She is still a young dog. She has a very low energy inside the home. I don’t allow her to run around inside the home and she has adapted well to this. She is also very quiet in the home. She might whine for a bit when I first leave the home but I have not heard any barking from her when in the home. As mentioned, she is just learning about many things and so currently she is a little afraid of such things as strange noises, for example my hair dryer, big trucks passing by on walks, and the vacuum cleaner. Again, this will just take some time and some further socialization for her to learn that there is nothing to fear and gain confidence in her surroundings. Bailey loves to play with my dog in the backyard. She is a very energetic pup who will play fetch for as long as you throw the ball. Although we are still working on drop it. She also loves to snuggle in bed or on the couch. So whatever you are up for Bailey will follow your lead.
I haven’t witnessed Bailey chewing anything that she shouldn’t but I do have a lot of toys and bones available to her. I have caught Bailey attempting to counter surf once. Bailey does knows some basic commands such as sit, lay down, and give paw. We are working on drop it and off. Bailey is fully house trained and hasn’t had any accidents inside my home. Bailey seems to be crate trained but does not want to go inside at all. I have been enticing with food, and have found that works. Bailey is crated for sleeping at night which is about 8 hours. The longest she has been left alone during the day is 4 hours. Bailey is not at all leash trained. She pulls and zig zags when she gets distracted by dogs, other animals and people. She will definitely need someone willing to work with her on leash training and she would be a good candidate for obedience classes as she is smart and very eager to please. Bailey does need to have a securely fenced yard to play in, as she would bolt from the yard if the gate was left opened. Bailey loves the car and sits nicely while she looks out of the window.
Bailey will need a family that understands that she is a lovely dog that just needs guidance and further socialization so she can gain trust in the world and learn skills that will help her be a great companion. She has so much potential because she is so loving and friendly. I have only had her in my care a short while and already I can see her making big leaps in these areas. She really adores her people when she feels secure and is a fun and affectionate dog. She would do very well with someone who is looking for a second dog or possibly someone who is not gone for long periods of time. She definitely needs someone who is willing to work with her training. My suggestions would be someone who is not a first time dog owner, someone who understands that she needs lots of positive reinforcement and love.
