Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Sweet, sweet Ivy. She came from the worst, and we're on a mission to find her the best. Ivy was confiscated by animal control from a filthy hoarding situation in which many children were also removed from the home. She was skin and bones and barely had the strength to walk. She was missing a ton of hair though now she has the silkiest most beautiful full coat. She's had many many money-making litters of pups. It's obvious her whole life has been one of horrible neglect.
Ideally, Ivy would love a person all to herself. She'd be a wonderful constant loving companion, but she bonds incredibly hard to one person so would likely not be a great fit for a couple or family (unless a couple was really willing to work with her on that). She's ok around other animals but doesn't give them the time of day, she's all about her person and will do about anything to be near them, or even better, on them. She loves to lay on her back in your arms and gaze into your eyes while you rub her belly and whisper to her.
Ivy's lack of exposure to the world means she's scared of everything new. She will unfold into a wonderful dog in the next year or so, but we need someone patient and kind to give her the time and space and commitment to do that. A routine and confidence building are important for her wellbeing. Getting her out into the world slowly is important.
Ivy is likely 8-10 or so years old, and she weighs about 25 pounds now. She's spayed, has been treated for heart-worm, is up-to-date on vaccinations, wormed, and is microchipped. Her adoption fee is $250.

Happy Tails Rescue Inc. is a 501c3 non-profit foster-based rescue based in Northwest Indiana. We have no shelter, all of our animals are cared for in loving foster homes until their forever home match is found. All of our animals are fully vetted before adoption, including distemper, rabies, and bordatella vaccines, a heartworm test, fecal test, microchip, and are spayed/neutered. If you're interested in meeting one of our animals please fill out an application first. If approved we will then arrange a meet and greet. Happy Tails does not do same day adoptions because we do a short home visit to make sure our animals are being placed in safe environments.
