Sadie is a beautiful 3 year old black shepherd mix. She is a deeply loyal dog, she is utterly devoted to our family and to our old grumpy dog, who she is always gentle with and respectful of. Sadie loves to play and is great with other dogs (though at times can be over enthusiastic and needs to take a time-out). She is house trained (to the point of running to the door and back to you if she has to go unexpectedly), knows all commands, loves to hike, swim and play ball, and is exceptionally eager to be given jobs. Sadie's main struggle and the only reason we feel we have to give her up is that she is exceedingly territorial, like so many Shepherds are. As with any good club, when you are in with Sadie, she is the best, and she has never once showed anything but affection towards us and those people who she feels comfortable with. We are truly heartbroken to be looking to re-home her but we feel we must because we have a new baby and though Sadie is perfect and gentle with him, we are worried that she will be excessively protective of the child. We want to nip this in the bud and find a terrific home for her, a place where, with some continued training, a different lay out, and no children, she can feel more at ease. Sadie would do best in a home that offers benevolent leadership, structure and routine, and with someone who knows Shepherds. She is spayed, up to date on all her shots, and is in terrific health. We have worked with two great trainers who are big Sadie fans and could give any interested party further insight into Sadie's character. We are looking for a really great match, and will happily wait until we find one.
