We have a pair of female chinchillas looking for their new home. Their names are Nippy and Blondie. Nippy and Blondie were born in 8/2009 (Nippy) and 8/2011 (Blondie) making them 7 and 9 years old. These chins came into the rescue when their owner no longer had time for them. Nippy is the standard grey chinchilla and Blondie is the homo beige (light champagne-y beige color with ruby eyes).
Their previous home originally brought home Nippy, and then decided, a few years later, that Nippy needed a buddy. Then, Blondie was brought home. This previous home didn’t handle the chins, in that she said they didn’t like it (and they really don’t, they are squirmy), but she did let them out for playtime daily. She said they loved their playtime. Unfortunately, now that they are older and haven’t been handled all their lives, they’re not used to being handled, and you can tell that it stresses them out. There’s no sense in restraining a chinchilla to handle it, so these girls will best go to a home that doesn’t necessarily want to handle the chins, but rather, is cool with watching them in their cage, possibly letting them out for playtime, handing them treats and goodies, and so on… just not so much handling them.
Nippy does drink from a water bottle, but Blondie drinks from a water bowl. Due to this, they will come with a water bowl for you.
They are sweet chinchillas and are very curious. They will come up to the open door of their cage if left open, and out for playtime. They don’t bite and are not aggressive.
These chinchillas can be adopted out by themselves (chinchillas only), or with their cage and accessories. Their cage is a Midwest Cat Playpen, Model 130 -- http://www.midwestpetproducts.com/playpens/midwest-130-cat-playpen -- and has 3 large shelves, two hidey houses, a huge log they love to sit on, two food bowls, some toys, some wood perches, and more! We will also throw in some extra wood shelves if you adopt the girls and their cage together. To adopt Nippy & Blondie with their cage and all accessories, the fee is $225.
These chinchillas can only be adopted out as a pair, so please don’t ask about adopting one without the other.
These chinchillas will come with some food to start you out (4 pounds of Tradition pellets), a goodie bags of chews/treats, and a printed out version of our care packet. He will also come with a lifetime of help and support, should you ever need it. If more supplies are needed, we also sell a variety of chinchilla supplies, from cages to hidey houses to hammocks and everything in between.
Regardless of past chinchilla experience, all potential homes will be asked to read our chinchilla care packet and fill out our adoption application/chinchilla questionnaire. If you are unwilling to do this, please do not waste our time or yours. No chinchilla will go to a new home without an adoption application being filled out - no exceptions.
The adoption fee for this pair of chinchillas, Nippy & Blondie, is $150. Or, you can adopt them with their cage and all accessories (see above) for $225.
