My basic info
Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We have a 1 year old medium / dark tan female chinchilla that is looking for her new home. She came to NWI a bit ago, and she was born around 5/2017, which makes her about 1 year old. Her name is Grey.
Grey came to the rescue with 8 other chinchillas, when their owners were moving to a different country. They came in two cages, each cage with a male and several females. Due to there being a male in the cages, all the females had to be put on pregnancy watch. Grey did not turn out to be pregnant, and since has completed her pregnancy watch, so she’s now available to go to a new home of her own!
Grey’s color is called tan, which is a brownish color that wraps around her entire body, including her belly.
Grey is a very curious chinchilla. She’s relatively easy to scoop up into your arms, but that said, she’s not a huge fan of being handled. She definitely can be handled and petted, though she’s more on the squirmy side, and wants to check out everything, rather than just be held in your arms. An adult can usually hang onto her alright, but she would definitely not be a pet for a younger child or teenager, unless they are only expecting to enjoy her during playtime. She occasionally likes scritches behind her ears. Super curious and sweet chin, we think she would just love playtime. Doesn’t bite.
As Grey did come in, living with a group of other chinchillas, we do know that she has gotten along with other chinchillas in the past. She is currently housed alone, but we anticipate that she could do well with a buddy again. If you are interested in pairing her with one of your, or one of our, chinchillas, let us know and we’ll see what we can do.
This chinchilla will come with some food to start you out (2 pounds of Tradition pellets), a goodie bags of chews/treats, and a printed out version of our care packet. She will also come with a lifetime of help and support, should you ever need it. If more supplies are needed, we also sell a variety of chinchilla supplies, from cages to hidey houses to hammocks and everything in between.
Regardless of past chinchilla experience, all potential homes will be asked to read our chinchilla care packet and fill out our adoption application/chinchilla questionnaire. If you are unwilling to do this, please do not waste our time or yours. No chinchilla will go to a new home without an adoption application being filled out - no exceptions.
This chinchilla is located in Hammond, Indiana (zip code 46324). Sorry, we are unable to ship.
The adoption fee for this tan female chinchilla, Grey, is $100
