My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

PLEASE READ CLAIRE'S ENTIRE BIO.

UPDATE 3/1/19 Hi! My name is Claire and I am told I am a Special Needs dog, although I’m not really sure what that means. I can only say that I need to live where someone is home almost all the time. I mean grocery shopping, a movie, dinner is okay, just not gone hours and hours. I would love to have a forever best friend – someone I can play with, hang out with, and go places with. I just love people, don’t you? I roll over for belly rubs and love to lie down with you and put my paw on you. I have always been respectful and well behaved around other dogs and like to make friends with some of them. My FAVORITE, though, is cats. I LOVE CATS. They laugh at me at the vet’s office because as soon as I see a cat in the waiting room I run over and do a play bow!

CLAIRE is a magnificent, loving dog with a fantastic temperament. She has an endearing personality and can melt your heart with her eyes. Claire is crate trained and house trained, spayed, current on vaccinations, is on Bravecto and Heartgard, and is microchipped. What causes her to be SPECIAL NEEDS is that she is heartworm positive and needs to be treated. WE HAVE THE FUNDS FOR HER TREATMENT. The issue is that Claire must first have a permanent home where she will not have the anxiety that can increase her heart rate. It is critical that any dog going through heartworm treatment must remain as calm as possible during the 3-4 month treatment. As Claire’s foster mom, I adore this girl, but am unable to give her the time and attention required to complete treatment, as we have many other foster dogs in need.
Claire has had a rough life and it is always a testament to these beautiful dogs to see how they forgive. Won’t you please help us find a home that Claire deserves?

CLAIRE is a pure bred German Shepherd whose early life was neglectful and abusive. And yet she is forgiving, extremely loving and affectionate. She is, like most GSDs, also very smart and intuitive.
CLAIRE is a sweet, wonderful girl! She has lived with a pug and a cat for the past 2 years. House trained, crate trained, current on vaccinations and spayed. She is also on Bravecto and Heartgard.
Claire gets along with most other dogs and also likes cats! She was BFFs with a cat in one of her homes. She is good with all people and has been around very young children, too.
Claire is also on special food, and will likely need to remain on that food for some time to come.

Claire is heartworm positive (treatment is sponsored) and we are searching for an adopter that will give Claire the stability and comfort she longs for. They would need to abide by the restrictions of heartworm treatment which can be explained.
Claire is also on special food, and will likely need to remain on that food for some time to come.
