Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Zephyr, a fun-loving and energetic 20 month old, 95 pound Shepherd/Ridgeback/Lab cross. He is a friendly, outgoing and high spirited pup who gets along well with people and who enjoys the company of other dogs. He is an enthusiastic athlete who loves running, hiking, swimming and marathon games of fetch! But, in the house he is loving and affectionate and happy to cuddle up close to his humans. At 10 weeks old Zephyr went to live with his family in the interior of BC. He had a large house with a fully fenced back yard which was a perfect place for him to grow up. But, things changed when unexpectedly his family had to relocate to Vancouver for career reasons. Unfortunately, Zephyr is not adjusting well to his new life in the city. He’s a real nature lover and is happy when he can have long runs thru the forest or chase sticks at the beach. Walks on noisy concrete city streets is turning Zephyr into a very unhappy dog. Because of the severe change in Zephyr’s mood, his human has made the very difficult decision to find him a new family who can give him the life he deserves. The perfect family for Zephyr will be outdoorsy and athletic with high energy to match his own. He’s an enthusiastic hiking partner and very willing to tag along on vigorous walks or long bike rides. And he’s happy with lots of playtime in the backyard too. Living in the yard wouldn’t work for him though - that would be too boring and a smart boy like him would find very creative ways of entertaining himself! Boredom is bad news for Zephyr.Gregarious and friendly with people, he is very happy and excited when he sees someone he knows. With strangers he’s more of a ladies! Some men make him feel a little timid at first. He is protective of his property, but is a discriminating barker who can be counted on to alert his people to potential trouble! But he’s not what you would call a watch dog - he is just too pleasant and eager to make new friends. Zephyr has been very well socialized and is great with other dogs but he doesn’t know his own strength so can be a bit rough on the little ones! He lived happily with a cat too but we don’t know if he’s happy with all cats! He can live with older kids, but he’s a big guy so young ones and Zephyr aren’t a good match. Zephyr has had puppy classes and knows his basic commands like sit, lay down, stay and come (most of the time)! His exuberance gets the best of him sometimes on a leash walk so he can pull a little but will settle down with reminders! He’s only young so should be guided with a firm but fair and gentle hand to help him continue to learn. Full of fun, this guy loves playing games and wrestling in the house! The lab in him makes him a little mouthy sometimes but its all very good natured play! He is neutered and vaccinated and has no known health issues.Zephyr is a faithful and loving friend and partner who thrives on exercise and attention from his people. He is affectionate and his eyes just glimmer with kindliness. He is a very companionable housemate who will bond with his people and bring joy to those lucky enough to share his life.
