Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Winston came into our care after his family had a new baby and as the baby began getting around, Winston wanted to play with her and also, that Winston was no longer getting the time and attention he deserves. He is your typical Schoodle with a few quirks of his own. He loves to chase leaves as you kick them into the air and will actually jump much higher than you would expect! Winston is 3 years old.
Here is what his foster family had to say about Winston:
Winston fit in right from the first day. He was fine with the other dogs in the home and couldn't care less about the cats. If the other dogs chase the cats he would join in but otherwise ignored them. With the dogs he loves to play and enjoys going to the dog park and running around with the dogs of all sizes. On leash he will bark at other dogs we are passing and his previous owner had him wearing a beep collar which they said worked to stop this. I have not been using the collar and just trying to redirect and distract him. This is his one issue that I feel would need some further training. Or, you could continue using the beep collar if that was your preference.
He is very affectionate and loyal to his people and is so happy when he sees you in the morning or when you come home after being away for a few hours. He is very free with his emotions and there is no question that he loves people. It is actually hard to express how loving this boy is. We haven't had him around young children but from what the past owners say, he was very friendly with the baby but just wanted to play with her so he would probably be fine with children of any age with proper supervision. He will bark at strangers coming into the home but only until they come up to him and he sees that you are okay with them, then he just wants pets.
Winston is one of those dogs that is just naturally obedient. He has never gotten into anything or chewed anything he shouldn't. He is fully house trained and lets you know when he has to go out. He enjoys being outside and often just likes to go outside to check things out or just relax in the yard. He is always at my side unless he thinks there is something else that needs his attention or he doesn't feel like doing what you ask and then you have to use persuasion. He did get out of my yard off leash and started to run then ran right back and looked at me as if to say, "Are you coming?". He is very comical and you just fall in love with his antics. To be honest we haven't had him out on walks much but rather have been taking the whole crew to the dog park. He loves going out in the car. He either looks out the window or lies quietly on the seat. I have walked him using just a collar or at other times on a harness. He seems fine with either. We do crate him at night and he goes in easily when asked, and sometimes just on his own for a nap during the day. I don't think he would need to be crated if that was your preference, as he is totally fine when left alone in the home. We did hear from his previous owners that he likes to sleep at the foot of your bed as well.
He is a very chatty dog and often reminds me of a Siamese cat the way he will talk to you. In the home he varies between playing with the other dogs, cuddling on the couch or lying at my feet as I work at my desk. The minute you ask him if he wants to go out however, or toss a ball, he is up and ready to go. Really he pretty much is good to be doing whatever you want to do. However if he wants to go out for a walk, he will let you know! He does need proper exercise and at least one good walk or outing a day.
He is an active little dog who enjoys running at the dog park, playing tug of war or fetch with his ball, and jumping in the air to catch leaves. We were told also that he loves playing in the snow. He really loves to play and will at times not want to stop and will continue asking you to play until he gets a stern "no more". He is an intelligent and independent boy with a mind of his own, and he doesn't mind letting you know what he thinks. Due to his vocal-ness, he would not be a good candidate for apartment life and also because he really loves having a yard to play in. He is very good at amusing himself.
If you were interested in adopting Winston, you have to know that he does require a fair amount of attention and being treated as a member of the family. He is not a dog that will sit idly by on the sidelines. He likes to know what is going on with the family at all times and be an active member. He is very intelligent and I am sure he would be a great candidate for anyone who wanted to go to obedience classes with him or other sport activities. He can run like the wind! We quickly fell in love with this boy and I think he will fit into just about any family where he is loved and treated like a family member.
