Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi! I’m Mia-almost 6 pounds of puppy spunk ‘cause I’m only 1 year old. I may be a yorkie-maltese mix but nobody really knows. You see I was found as a stray and taken to a shelter so noone really knows my history. I haven’t enjoyed a puppy’s happy life for very long but things are certainly look up for me. When I came to NBS I was a 3.5 lb clump of matted fur and bones-my infected eyes were crusted shut and I couldn’t walk. Things weren’t looking very good for me but after lots of tests, MSU doctors gave me medicine for encephalitis and now...! Even though they couldn’t save one of my eyes, I got a new lease on life and I’d be so happy to share my gratefulness with you...
Though I’m super playful, I’m also a snuggly lover girl. I enjoy walks and will sleep with you all night if you let me. I’m still working on potty training but doing better! Good with other playful dogs and cats. I can be a little bit awkward when I want other doggies to play with me, but don't worry! I come home with one free training session so that the awesome NBS trainers can help you help me become a better greeter!
Suggest kids 10 yrs+ , alone no more than 4 hrs ( for potty training)
These are the things I fur-sure need in my fur-ever home!
- Family who is gone no longer than 5 hour periods.
- Children must be 10yrs or older
If you think I might be the perfect addition to your family please follow these steps:
1.) Visit www.nbsar.org to fill out my adoption application. As an approved adopter, my rescue friends can set up a home visit so I can meet you. Our rescue is 100% run by volunteers, to help your application be processed as quickly as possible, please make sure to….
2.) Call your veterinarian and give them permission to release information about your current and past pet’s veterinary history.
3.) Call your references too! Let them know to expect a phone call from an unknown phone number, and a rescue team member will need to talk to them on the phone as a reference.
My adoption fee is $250.00 and includes a DHPP vaccine, bordatella vaccine, de-worming, spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccine (age appropriate), heartworm test (age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, microchip insertion, bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, leash and collar and one week's worth of food. If you’d like to meet me, please apply online and to become an approved adopter!
Our adoption process requires that any pet in your household be current on vaccinations and heartworm preventative , spayed/neutered (unless a documented medical reason is on file with your veterinarian). Dogs must be current on Distemper DHPP combo vaccine and Rabies vaccine, cats must be current on Distemper and Rabies at the time of application. This also applies to any pets in your home within the past five years.
While I hope that you have fallen in love with me and are ready to apply, I understand if I might not be the perfect pup for your family just yet. However, would you please help by sharing my picture on Facebook, twitter or by email? I'm a great pup and need a loving family to give all of my love and puppy kisses to! Thank-you for your help!
