Shadow joined PPAR with his littermate Midnight. Shadow has had 2 known seizures in his lifetime, with unknown cause. One occurred when he was 11 weeks old, and one in June of 2018. Shadow is a sweet boy, but has some neurological issues as a result. He doesn't require any regular medications, but does require additional TLC! He is confused very easily, and likes to stick to a pattern. He has moments where his behavior seems totally normal, and takes advantage of playing with the other pups in the yard! He generally travels by circling (he makes big and small circles) but will come to you when you call him and can get him out of his circle pattern! It's as if he gets 'stuck'! When inside, he will wonder a bit, but mostly likes to cuddle up on a cozy blanket (or sofa!) right next to you. Nothing is sweeter than when this boy puts his head on the couch and waits for you to lift him up! He sleeps in his kennel without complaint, and if he is out regularly won't have accidents.
Shadow spent the first part of his life with limited socialization, aside from his brother & original owner and as such new things can be very scary! He is overall a very happy guy, but when he gets scared his instinct is to run. He bonds to his people after they earn his trust (which can take a while!) and loves children.
Shadow joined PPAR severely underweight. He has been gaining weight and is currently about 40 lbs, but should likely be closer to 50 lbs. Shadow will require regular grooming, and a special diet of soft food (as he doesn't regularly consume water).
We would love to see Shadow and his brother, Midnight, adopted together! They have spent their whole lives together and Shadow could use Midnight's support! Applicants interested in both pups will get preferential treatment.
Shadow has been vaccinated & microchipped, but has not been neutered. The vet who examined Shadow didn't feel a surgical procedure was safe considering his neurological issues. As such, Shadow's adoptive home will need to agree to keep him away from females in heat, and to not use him for any breeding purposes.
