Here's what the humans have to say about me:
LOLA (TENNESSEE)
Lola is a 12-week-old puppy who weighs 10.2 pounds (as of this writing) and is being fostered in Murfreesboro, TN. Lola is not a Yorkie and will be a medium sized adult dog.
We just posted an initial Bio for sweet Lola yesterday and today we are posting an update because life in the world of rescue is always full of surprises and Lola is one of those. When the shelter reached out for help with Lola, they estimated Lola to be 1-year-old which is by most standards, the age at which dogs are considered to be adults dogs and no longer puppies. In other words, they are mostly done growing. It was also believed that Lola was likely a Yorkie-Schnauzer mix or possible a Yorkie Poodle mix. We are, after all a Yorkie Rescue so we were happy to welcome Lola into UYR. Well, today, this sweet, playful, affectionate black-beauty went into for her first Vet visit since coming to us. And we got quite a surprise! Lola is only 12 weeks old! That’s right Yorkie lovers, this puppy is 12 weeks old and already weighs 10.2 pounds, so we think we can safely say that as beautiful as she is, she has very little (if any any) Yorkshire Terrier in her. The Vet says she is most likely a schnauzer mix of some sort, perhaps a schnauzer-poodle mix but honestly, it is impossible to know for certain. As for her adult size, the Vet predicted she will 30 or so pounds when she is full grown. She is likely to have the adult appearance of a small Labradoodle as an adult and it is POSSIBLE she actually IS one. It is equally possible she is nothing of the sort. In any event, while Lola might not be a Yorkie she is OURS, WE LOVE HER, she is 100% adorable and we feel blessed to welcome this large furry surprise into UYR and be part of her story. On today’s Vet visit, she hooked up with another 12-week-old puppy in the waiting room and the two of them do what 12-week-old puppies do which is PLAY HARD! Lola also LOVES to give lots of puppy kisses and loves playing puppy style with her foster brother. Her Vet visit today went great and aside from finding some fecal parasites (extremely common in puppies and easily treated), Lola is 100% healthy. She can’t be spayed until she is 6 months old, however so whoever is lucky enough to adopt Lola will need to agree to have her spayed when she reaches 6 months of age. Lola is a puppy and needs an adopter who realizes this and is willing to take on all the challenges of puppyhood including dealing with her high energy, housetraining, learning good manners (like not chewing things she isn't supposed to), leash walking, and generally how to grow into a good canine citizen. Her foster parents are working with her in her foster home on all of these things but just like human infants, puppies need consistency, shaping, reinforcement and patience. She also needs an adopter who knows that she could well be with them for 15 years or possibly longer. A fenced in yard for Lola to romp and expend her puppy energy is highly desirable for her. An active adopter or even a family would be a great fit for her.
Most people who visit our site are looking for Yorkies or Yorkie-Mixes so we can really use the help of our Facebook followers in sharing this post far and wide and especially tagging those persons you may know that are lovers of “Doodle-Dogs”, schnauzers, and terrier types in general. We have had MANY non-Yorkies through our rescue but none that were likely to make it to the 30-pound range, so we can really use your help in finding Lola’s PAWFECT FUREVER HOME. If you have any questions about Lola, you can send an email to her foster mom for more information, jgm4bama@gmail.com.
