My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! I am Willie! I need your love badly, and I will protect and cherish you until I die. Before I was rescued off the street, I was terrified, hungry, and tired.
Life was scary being hit, bit, choked, whipped, and starved. I never knew why the other dogs bit and tried to kill me. No one protected me. Instead, they choked me with an electrical cord. I was tossed outside and could barely move. I did not like fighting. Why were people letting their dogs bite and hurt me? After crying a lot, I used my teeth, chewed the electrical cord around my neck, and escaped.

I ran as fast as I could. A nice man, Perry, saw me running in an out of traffic. He stopped, but I was too scared to go to him. Everywhere I hid, he seemed to find me. Then a big Animal Control Truck appeared. Everyone was closing in on me. I shook with fear. Someone got a loop around my neck. I was put in the large truck and taken to a Shelter.
Perry came to visit me, and I always enjoyed getting to see him. He would leave, but would always keep his promise to visit me again, but I never got to go home with him. I had to return to my concrete kennel. I met his friend, Linda, one day in the Shelter’s dog park. They played ball with me and took pictures. I felt like a King with all the fun I had. They had to go home, and I had to go back into my Shelter kennel again. One day, I got to leave the Shelter and go home with Linda. Linda is with Sweet Strays Resued. I am very good, and she is my foster mom. I definitely love home life!
Linda cannot keep me, but can YOU? I promise to love you until I die.

For my benefit, I was taken to Dog School for socialization since I would be in a home with other dogs coming and going. I was socialized so that now I know how to interact with others, including animals, and have good social skills. I love being a good boy! I had a blast at Dog School, but now I am all ready for my home. I learned to play nicely. I learned that my human is in charge.

Will you consider letting me love you? Will you share your home with me forever? I promise I will return your love 100 times over. My trainer said I was excellent with people and would be great for anyone needing a therapy dog or a dog for fun activities. I can help if you need companionship. I like being a good dog, so I am pretty easy. Once I know what you want, I am there for you! I am good with other dogs, but I play. I lick Linda's dogs to say I love you, but sometimes they growl back at me. I love to run laps in a yard. I love to catch a ball or rope. If you have other dogs, please make sure they can handle an active dog. I am young and have energy to take walks, hike, run, whatever you want. I will take a good nap after exercise. I love to watch TV, especially DOG TV because they say, "good boy". I just LOVE to hear that I am a good boy! Will you please tell me I am a good boy? I promise to love you. Also, I want you to know that I rarely bark. At first Linda thought I was not able to bark. I can bark, but am on the quiet side. I may do 1 bark when excited. Some days, I don't bark at all. Also, I turn around if someone touches my behind. I am just making sure no one is going to hit me. I do not growl or bite. I just look.
Here’s some other things about me.
Crate trained, House trained
Neutered, Microchipped
Veterinarian checked, all shots up to date
No worms, fleas, ticks, or parasites
I take monthly Heartgard and Nexgard.
I am a Lab Mix; I weigh approximately 47 pounds
I want to be an inside dog. My preference is that you know I like to play. I love toys.
I walk on a leash well
I love to play and run inside a fenced yard. If you go inside, I like to go with you. I don't really like being outdoors alone. I get scared you may not come back for me.
I rarely bark, even when the other dogs bark.
I do not dig in the yard or try to escape.
I can sleep in a cozy crate, in a cozy dog bed, or with you. I just want you to be happy.
My name is Willie, and I would love to be your best friend.
Will you adopt me, please?
If you have been through hard times, I am your dog! I have been through hard times too. Those tough times taught me to love humans because humans saved me. Those tough times have made me grateful. I want to love you and share my life with you forever.

Willie the Miracle dog

From my rescue:

Willie was found running with an electrical cord wrapped around his neck. He needs a foster or adopter. He LOVES to play ball. He will entertain himself if he has toys and bones/antlers. He really likes to be with people. He plays eagerly and has a lot of energy, so he would do best with an active family. He is a GOOD dog. I wish I were younger and healthier so I could keep him.
You will be pleased as long as you know he is 1 year old. He is definitely still at a stage of loving play and activity. He has not torn anything up in the house, but I keep him supplied with toys. He knows sit, lay down, and stay.
