Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meyer is a male, 3-1/2 month-old, mixed breed puppy who currently weighs 11lbs. He is primarily dark chocolate brown, with golden brown eyebrows/cheeks/snout/legs and just a touch of white on his chest. His hair is very short and to look at his physique – I honestly think he looks like he could be part dachshund - only with longer legs. We have no idea who his parents were, so there’s no way of knowing for sure, but it’s safe to say that he is not going to be a large dog (best guess is, maybe he’ll weigh a max of 30 lbs.?)
Meyer came into our care on Saturday (October 20) evening and is currently being fostered in a home with two adult humans, one teenage human, several adult dogs, plus one of his littermates.
Meyer is a very sweet, playful, all-around HAPPY boy. He’s already very good about going in the crate on his own but we’re working on getting him to go in the crate when WE want him to go in the crate (for example, at bedtime or when we need to leave for work). He was restless during his first night with us (which should be completely expected) His second night, however, was a completely different story – he slept straight through and only woke us up in the morning when he had to go potty.
So far, I haven’t found a toy that Meyer DOESN’T like to play with. He loves chasing squeaky balls, chewing on the froggie that ribbits and piggy that oinks, gently tugging with the rope toys, running around with a long squeaky snake toy, and hopping after the large fabric-covered ball when it’s rolled across the floor… He loves them all!
Yesterday, Meyer was introduced to wearing a collar and harness – which he did very well with accepting both. We went for a little walk outside and he did very well for his first time. He also loves to snuggle! I could tell he loved it from all the kisses he showered me with!
I will continue to provide updates as I get to know Meyer some more and as we continue to work on his training. From all the love and joy he’s brought to us during this short period of time, I’m positive he is going to make someone or a family very lucky! Forget the Mega Millions jackpot – who needs a billion dollars when you can win the lottery of unconditional love!
