Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Dijon is currently located in TEXAS. There are not enough homes for all the unwanted dogs down here, so she is willing to move north for a good loving forever home.
Dijon was picked up by animal control. He was already neutered and after pulling him from the pound we discovered that he was already microchipped. His original owner never reported him missing. He was found by some other people who gave him to their daughter and after he was picked up by animal control they refused to come get him out of the pound. It's a common story around here, and Dijon would like a family that loves and wants him for the remainder of his life.
Dijon is a miniature red Dachshund, now 10 years old and weighing around 13 pounds. Dijon is a very good dog. He is house trained and crate trained - although he does not need to be crated. He walks great on a leash and rides well in the car. He is very quiet and only barks when he wants something. Dijon is a lap dog, he gives kisses, and he likes to sit in on the couch with you when you watch television. He would be fine with well-mannered children that are gentle with him. He is a little intimidated by the larger dogs in his foster home, so he may perk up in a different living situation. He does like other small dogs and is fine with cats. Dijon is a small dog that must be protected from rough treatment by children, large dogs, and predators that would consider him dinner. Dijon must be in the house as a loved member of the family. He must be walked on a leash and he would like a secure fenced yard to explore and go potty.
Dijon has been checked by a vet and he is healthy. He does have some broken teeth but they do not cause him any problems. Dijon was already neutered and microchipped. He is now fully vaccinated, negative for heart worms and current on heart worm and flea preventative. Dijon has a $400.00 adoption fee which includes ground transport to Strasburg VA or Hagerstown MD.
