Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I rescued Luca over a year ago (from our carport), with the intention of rehoming him once he got healthy, neutered and vaccinated. In getting to know him the first few weeks, it turned out that Luca is painfully timid around people. Even now, after a year and a half of living together, he doesn't let me pet him, although he is more comfortable (i.e. doesn't feel the need to hide all the time). About a month ago he stopped using the litter boxes. I have taken him to vet and ruled out physical issues (he's perfectly healthy). His issue is behavioral/psychological. I cannot continue to keep him in these conditions. My apartment is just too small.
Aside from being shy and nervous, Luca is a healthy cat. He is very playful and energetic when comfortable. He absolutely loves other cats, but cannot be around dogs. So long as you give him his space, he is fine and eventually warms up to being in the same room with you. He needs an enclosed yard where not a litter box is not needed.
